Tools I Use

“make things easier for the user and make the computer work harder.”
This is the philosophy based on which I build my applications. The apps, I choose to use also follow it.

Ubuntu

2 reasons why I use this:
1. Its works, ALWAYS.
2. Its cheaper than a MAC. and its free.
According to me an OS should be as opaque as possible. Everything should just work. Everything should work all the time. Ubuntu installs on any old laptop flawlessly. Most of the time all hardware works right out of the box. The newest version is so reefined, windows users might eat their heart out when they see it. However, if you are a heavy Office user, stay with MS Office. Open Office isn’t there yet. But hey, thats why God gave us Virtual Box.

Git

1. Its easy to use on a unix based system.
2. Its command line based and therefore very very fast.
3. Its easy to learn to use, very quickly.

Tomboy Notes

1. Very fast. Ctrl+S – less saving.
2. You can give wiki-links between notes.
3. Keep notes in sync using Ubuntu One.

Portable Ubuntu

1. If you are stuck with a windows machine, god forbid, just boot up with Portable Ubuntu, right inside Windoze from a memory stick.

Vim

A day doesn’t go by without opening Vim. Its an excellent text editor, which does exactly what you want it to. It does everything as you would expect. It does it all perfectly well, without skipping a beat.
